Dressing

The dress of the early Filipino was also change by the Spaniards. They placed the men's jacket and bahag by the Western coat and trousers. These days, we call the Western coat "Americana" because it was introduced by the American Spaniards from Mexico. The lower-class men wore hats instead of the "putong"
They also changed the style of dressing of the women. Instead of wearing "sarong", they wore " saya" (skirt) and camisa(blouse). They also learned to wear shawls, hair combs and handkerchiefs. They still wore jewelry except armlet and anklet. They also taught us to wear slippers and shoes.
